Notes: The West Coast Trail is located on the western coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. Because of the rugged terrain and frequent shipwrecks in that area, a "trail" was established in the early 1900s so that would be survivors can reach safety. After 100 years, the trail remains rugged and treacherous, and many are evacuated before they can complete the hike, which usually takes 6-7 days. The trail is open for backpackers from April to October of every year.

This board shows the number of evacuations to date for this year. By the time we're done with our six day hike, the number of evacuations rose to 72.
