Paul Chiu.

Having spent the better part of my early life essentially on rails, going from high school to college to med school to residency, the jolt to the system came on Sept 11, 2001 when I woke up after a shift in the ER only to discover a city in shock.  After a day or two of being flooded with images on the television and on the internet, I decided to buy a digital SLR so that I could document the world for myself.

My initial setup was a Canon D30, the company's first DSLR.  It wasn't my first foray into photography but having digital truly was trans-formative.  It flattened the learning curve tremendously and soon I was confident enough to get the system I really wanted, a Leica M6-TTL which I bought used on eBay.  With the two camera systems in tow I started taking pictures everywhere I went, trying to live the life of a photographer.  It was my only obsession for the next 10 years.

As life caught up with me, the only photography I do nowadays is when I travel and of course family and kids.  The Canon and the Leica were sold. Now I have a Fuji X-E2 with beautiful lenses that I adore.  Technology is great.
